Unique approach to life & business

Matthew and Terces Engelhart have a unique approach to life and business. While many would say they are “busy,” the Engelharts, prefer to refer to their lives as “full.”

This spirit of gratitude and appreciation for the abundance of life has afforded this dynamic couple a life beyond their expectations. They are co-founders of the plant based West Coast restaurant havens Café Gratitude, as well as  Gracias Madre . Matthew and Terces have created a work environment unlike any other. This work experience began with the creation of The Abounding River Board Game. The Abounding River is an exploration that introduces people to an unfamiliar view of Being Abundant. It encompasses both training people in a day to day practice as well as discovering a Spiritual foundation that opens up to a whole new way of looking at money and resources. After the creation of this unique and purposeful game, Matthew and Terces wanted a place where friends and strangers alike could gather and play the game and explore its ideas. They decided the best place to do this would be in a café style setting and thus, Café Gratitude was born. Cafe Gratitude is a transformational business in the form of a restaurant.

Their businesses focus on employees using the tools they share to stay present to the abundance of their lives and live in the present moment while serving customers. Locations for their organic farm to table restaurants include Los Angeles, Venice Beach, Berkeley, San Francisco and Santa Cruz California. They live on “Be Love” Farm, an organic, regenerative agriculture farm where they grow organic food. Together they have authored several books including: Sacred Commerce: Business as a Path of Awakening, Kindred Spirit: Fulfilling Love's Promise, I Am Grateful: Recipes and Lifestyle of Cafe Gratitude and Plenty of Time: a 366 day creative planner. In addition to speaking and teaching at events across the country, the couple leads workshops for Eternal Presence, the educational branch spearheading the culture for Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre.

Unique life experiences

Every venture the Engelhart’s pursue is an outpouring of their personal life’s journey and what they have learned along the way.

Terces comes from a background of transformation and recovery. Having battled with eating disorders and a past that includes sexual abuse, she considers herself an example of the power of love and its ability to heal. She also believes in the transformation that is available when a community learns to compassionately hold space for one another. Additionally, Matthew is a true seeker and a rebel who has worked with multiple teachers and traditions in a search for a deeper understanding of the human spirit and awakening. The couple’s unique life experiences are the driving force behind the principles that inspire their very grateful business practices. In keeping with their philosophy one could say, their careers are an extension of their own process of “waking up” and living in the present moment.

In addition to their business ventures, the Engelhart’s have five children and seven grandchildren and currently reside in Vacaville California on Be Love Farm.
